What is the pythagorean theorem?

What is it?

The Pythagorean theorem is the theory that the square of the hypotenuse of a right angle triangle is equal to the squares of the other two sides. This may sound pretty complicated and intimidating, but actually it is much simpler than you think.

The hypotenuse of a right triangle is the side of a right triangle opposite to the right angle. It is basically its long leg. What the Pythagorean Theorem states is that its length is the sum of the other two short legs of a right triangle.
A right triangle is a triangle with a right angle. It can also be called right angle triangle.
